Man, I had to work to get these posted!

It is better to engage in one's own occupation, even though one may perform it imperfectly, than to accept another's occupation and perform it perfectly. Prescribed duties, according to one's nature, are never affected by sinful reactions. Ch 18:47
.....
The Supreme Lord is situated in everyone's heart, O Arjuna, and is directing the wanderings of all living entities, who are seated as on a machine, made of the material energy. v61

O scion of Bharata, surrender unto Him utterly. By His grace you will attain transcendental peace and the supreme and eternal abode. v62

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

I think a better question is: HOW does one '''surrender to Him utterly"?

That would be a Bhakti approach. You know that's not my cup of tea.

I do... with great affection.
AND YET ---
how else are we to approach the Divine? With our fun, fascinating intellect? Maybe, yes.
But, to get up close and personal we need that Bhakti...messy, gooey, sappy love stuff. HA!
And YOU are gonna have to surrender to that!!!.....one day.

I know --it's just awful!

I've been using this of late, he has done one by another guru too, I suppose there'll be ones or each philosophy religion you can test.

The way, I think, is what I call `surrendered action`. I don`t think the lie back and `yeah Krishna`s gonna do that for me ` approach works. What does work is the " I`m embarking on this project Lord, please help me through it". Then do it as if you were doing it for him. Keep thinking as you do it, be aware of karma, and always ask if he would want you to be doing it the way you are. If all of that has been considered and is correct, offer it up to him and then put everything you have into it. `Do the work!` As a great friend always says to me.
I see it like a boat. If the sails are down its going nowhere, you will have to raise the sails (ask for help and do the work) and manage the boat, but he will provide the wind to get you there.

peteyzen, you know I luv ya.

But I have different take: I found, esp, when I became a Charismatic Christian(!)...I needed to do NO work at all.
But, instead, do nothing except know that my heavenly Father would 'take care of it'.

As in, Jesus said give him your burdens...I'm sorry I see no difference in talking about different Master's and their advice - Krishna, Jesus, whomever.

Look at Draupadi, was it? What did she do as the men were pulling her sari off? Nothing ...EXCEPT one thing ...she trusted Krishna
and called to Him to help her.
This is what I mean.
What did the criminal to Jesus' right do? He had trust and faith, asked Jesus something...and look what it got him...Paradise!

I have had decades of experiences of doing nothing and God, in any form as you wish...has fulfilled my need...in ways
you actually would not even believe!!
But at this point, I am used to.

My life has been the opposite. Had all my needs taken away. Not sure what that means. God hates me? It means I don't have a good relationship with God? I'm not spiritual? I remember walking home one day as a kid in a forest fire, ashes dropping all around me, flames on my sides, with a broken tooth and two black eyes. That sums up what has happened over and over. I suppose some "spiritual types" would say it's my own fault in some way. Maybe they are right. I don't know. I had my nose broken the first time at 3 years old by my brother. So really it's been my whole life. What was I doing wrong at 3? Well plus the abusive parents.

I'm not sure getting all you want and need from God, or getting stuff, means one is better with God or closer or whatever. Maybe God lays more hardship on those he is closest to? Yea who knows. To me it's all guessing and projection of beliefs we invent. A lot of very good people have very terrible things happen to them. Others have a charmed life. I would guess it is about lessons we need, not how much we are pleasing God. I would assume God loves all equally. But then that feeds into the idea we are somehow the cause for the bad stuff that happens to us which maybe is true. I am on a violent planet so that may speak to my spiritual development as there has to be better places to exist for higher types.

Hindus are heavy into karma so believe we are at fault for what happens to us. Even babies who suffer. But then I read a book by a medium and she said new souls are typically given easy lives to get their feet wet. Old souls have very difficult lives. I hope that's true lol. I bought a lottery ticket today. See if God will let me have a house! I've always wanted one.
