Shekinah...I hear you. Unconditional love, often understood as one-sided, is not appropriate for most relationships as commonly understood and practised. It is typically not grounded in reality and is not grounded in a balanced love of self and others equally.
I don't like the term "unconditional love" because it is so laden down with expectations of self-flagellation and exploitation of the self by others. This is not love at all IMO and only perpetuates a culture of exploitation and utilitarianism by the abusers and of codependency by the abused.
However authentic love, balanced in love of self and others, is extremely practical, sustainable, and "doable". It adapts and can be adapted to any situation or relationship, which is key.
