I was told that if you have a higher pitched tuning fork and a lower one...
the lower one will soon ring at the higher frequency!
I have never tested it...anyone?

Each tuning fork is tuned to a specific frequency. You can alter
the frequency of the tuning fork by banging it against something harder.
A 2400 HZ tuning fork will not make a 1200 HZ tuning fork vibrate like a 2400 HZ tuning fork.
I think I know how this might have come about. Engineering students used to be showed a
movie of a suspension bridge, built in 1940, which started going into a harmonic oscillation till part
of the bridge was destroyed after being built less then 4 months prior.
This is also the reason why soldiers when approaching a bridge, break formation.
