Jim has it right, and so do you, in part, Silvergirl, Jesus is the bridegroom and head of the church, and the bride of Christ is the church. From which they're separated in the age of the church. In the second coming of Christ, the bridegroom and the bride will be united in Holy matrimony, an official wedding ceremony.

It is worthwhile mentioning that technically, Christians don't go to church, they're the church, the out called ones who make the assembly. And as believers, we are the bride of Christ who are to stay faithful to him until that glorious day.

Yes, well... My point was that Gandhi's point was specifically not a criticism of Christ, but of the Christians he was dealing with.

Indeed. I was actually about to type the same thing, lol. I don't think Ghandi was saying anything other than, there are those who don't practice what they preach.

Yes I agree as well I think that is where the 'rub' comes in with some when they hear the word Christian, they have experienced in their lives those who call themselves Christian, not being very Christian when dealing with others, or even in their own lives.

Gandhi's not exactly wrong (who can argue with Gandhi?) but he could have exempted some Christians from his comment. There must be some Christians, somewhere, who live in harmony with Christ's teachings.

*shrug* A statement like that just has to be taken that he meant generally, in the context or no.
