Somehow earlier this slipped my mind: Isaiah 53:10-12….prophesying of Jesus…v. 12….”he hath poured out his soul unto death; and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.” KJV

Remember ‘the one that sins is the one that dies’ ? And ‘that all have sinned’ ? If the soul of Jesus was not immortal how can we possibly believe that ours is ?

I'm wondering if anyone, here, on this forum thinks that Jesus is not existing right now somewhere...
He's very much alive and well on the Other Side as far as I believe! And yay!
He said he would make a place for us. Again, yay!
He showed Thomas his hands after the Crucifixion...again, yay!
He hung out with the Apostles and others after the Crucifixion...again, yay!

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

Miss Hepburn,

What I or anyone thinks is simply a product of imagination….anything could be right or wrong. Jesus is a unique situation courtesy of the resurrection. Of more interest is whether any of the departed that we know are walking around…..:). At what point does the resurrection occur for them ?

Back to the OP…..modern theologians, by and large, reject the idea of the immortal soul. The Bible cannot be shown to support this belief. By now someone would have directed us to the specific scripture.

An interesting sidelight for me concerns the quotation I gave from Isaiah. ‘He poured out his soul’ noticing the usage of past tense. Prophets can see the future as a tableau and speak with absolute certainty. This was different from normal prophecy which serves as a validation of God’s words for future generations.

The Bible teaches that we consist of body, soul and spirit: "May your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus" (I Thessalonians 5:23). ... The Greek word for spirit is pneuma. It refers to the part of man that connects and communicates with God.

This is interesting, never thought much about it,

Does Bible mention immortal soul?
The modern scholarly consensus holds that the canonical teaching of the Old Testament made no reference to an immortal soul independent of the body. A wide range of scholarly reference works consistently represent this view.

Off the web...

But this is it, the soul is not independent of the body, the soul is part of the body? Mind, body and soul. They can't ever be separated I have always thought. You will always have a body, ,mind too when in the soul.

So in death the soul "sleeps" without a body/mind until the resurrection day comes and is reunited with the risen body.. With Christ.

The Bible frequently uses ‘sleep’ as a metaphor for what we call death. The resurrection is understood as the process of awakening. Matthew 9:18…the ruler said….”My daughter has just died” it was apparent to all….continuing v. 24…Jesus says…”The girl is not dead but asleep. But they laughed at him.”

Your words Molearner..

Again, what it means to be asleep... in the Lord.

Well, not walking around here on earth, but are on the Other Side...that does bleed into our plane.
Why do I say this? Because of my mom and my uncle. Personal exp.
And yes, I am influenced by many mediums I respect....and many NDEs.
Even my CAT ---visiting me on the Astral...and I happened to have been in a space to see him as clear as day.

Imagination? Not if you have directly exp'd something.

I think there's millions of Jesuses.
Here's one with a classical style: https://www.youtube.com/c/Estastonne/videos

I watched a video of the Dalai Lama, and he said they did an experiment with one of his meditation masters. The master can put himself in a state where science says: this man is dead. But then he "comes back to life".
