A questioner asks why do Muslims say peace be upon him when mentioning the Prophet’s name? Is it because they worship him?
It definitely does not mean any kind of worship of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). We do not worship our Prophet (PBUH). When Muslims greet each other we say “peace be upon you.”
If we were to meet any prophets, we would says “peace be upon you.” However, because they are not here and out of respect for them we say peace be upon that certain prophet.
This greeting comes from the Quran. Allah says that the believers will be addressed by Allah and the angels in this way in Paradise.
We are asking God to bless our prophets and and bring them peace. It is definitely not any kind of worship.
peace be upon him

Very nice comments....... as usual.
Some might not know what PBUH means.
It is the English abbreviation for "peace be upon him” and is used in conjunction with the usage of the name of one of God's Prophets.

THE MOST CALEOGRAPHICAL LETTER AVAILABLE
Using your keyboard, how do you get your keyboard to make the 'letter' that looks like this: ﷺ ?
First, type the letters Fdfa
Second, highlight the letters Fdfa
Third, depress the ALT key and the lower case X key and what will appear is the letter:
ﷺ
....... of course, it will be the size of your other letters and should look like this: ﷺ

I forgot to mention, to type directly such Arabic letters directly, as mentioned above, it can not be done on this Forum but it can be done in such programs as Microsoft Word. Then you can copy/cut from Microsoft Word, etc. and then paste it in this Forum.

CALEGRAPHICAL ALPHABETICAL LETTER(S)
Being that ﷺ is only a singular alphabetical letter in the Arabic language: how was it possible to condense a phrase ("Peace be upon him") into a singular alphabetical letter and can this be done for other expressions that are non-Arabic?
And just as important, are there other alphabetical letters that are just as calegraphical that are available for other religions?

So, it is different than "As-salamu alaykum" ("Peace be upon you"), right?
Once, an online Muslim friend from Egypt told me that a non-Muslim is not allowed to greet a Muslim with "as-salamu alaykum". Is that true, or it was just his personal view?

"As-salamu alaykum" is an expression ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ consisting of numerous letters whereas ﷺ, is transliterated as ʿalayhi s-salām and is translated as ("Peace be upon him") is actually one, yes, only one calligraphical LETTER.
In English, we do not have any calligraphical letters which I find amazing.
