I love coffee too... Yummmmyy!! I don't believe it's really something that's healthy for us though.. I know that it has some health benefits, but there are many negatives too.. sorry coffee lovers, but it must be said

Moderation is key... I love coffee but it only takes one cup for my heart to start palpitating :(((( Still I persist, I like it but no more than a cup a day! (or at least I try to keep it at that) :)))

To be frank, there's nothing so bad with coffee that the placebo effect alone doesn't more than make up for it.

Hence the title of the thread.

The weightloss benefits were the reason I took it up. And all the anti-cancer, anti-Alzheimers, beneficial heart effects that have been in the news since are icing on the cake.

I just wish I'd made iced coffee yesterday. Too hot and humid today.

I didn't want to spill erm.. nutrasweet all over this thread cuz it was started to talk about how great coffee is.. and I am fond of it myself.. but since you're challenging me
I think the simple fact that most coffee drinkers Need coffee to get up every day is fact enough alone that coffee is not the best for us.. of course we could get into all the pros and cons of health benefits and ill effects, but that can be done with many things that aren't inherently positive, such as, alcohol.. just because there are some positive effects doesn't mean we should conclude it's worth consuming. We can find better sources of the antioxidants or relaxation properties of it elsewhere without the negative effects.. and so on..
I mean, yea coffee has been used for eons.. but then so were things like cocaine and other things we wouldn't dare exalt today.
the reality is that with coffee usually we're relying on a substance to sustain us. and a substance that isn't really benign..

I gotta agree with Sapphire... It's good (very!!!) and I am having one right now to keep me awake at work and now I'm all hyper but just as disoriented lol. Always makes my heart beat too fast, but I'm too stubborn to listen, hehe...

I don't smoke, I don't drink very often and not to excess, I don't do drugs. I do however drink coffee, I have since I was a small child when I would have a splash of coffee in my glass of milk with my grandmother in the mornings. I love the taste and aroma.

Oh I'll have to tell my boyfriend this. He gave up coffee and has only been having tea as his main caffeine drink. I suppose the tea has caffeine but he might be happy knowin coffee isn't to bad for him... Though don't know if instant coffee is healthy compared to regular coffee? Is there a taste difference?
