It really is no major amount, if it is true.

But he is on the "rich man’s list"! Is that true?

I'm no hunter.

In the age of internet, I can not find the list, and he is not in the current one if it is this one http://www.forbes.com/billionaires/list/

This leaves Christophers words to be speculations, if there is no reference. And maybe Tolle is not in a mundane powerful position.

But then we still would want gurus to represent transparency. (I do not know if he does or not.)

Just stumbled upon this. I have only watched 5 minutes, but I think it is in the direction I am pointing at. I do not yet know if the film is good or not, but it looks good.

Four Horsemen - Feature Documentary - Official Version
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fbvquHSPJU

It probably will be interesting to place gurus in relation to this documentary. Especially the ones wanting to change the world. My thought is we (we all, including the world-changing-gurus), aren't truly breaking the patterns.

"To understand something is to be liberated from it" - from the documentary.

That Guru, and those mega church preachers and others who spiritually entertain us, are in it for the Money. He needs to spend his money on nice a luxury jet, so he can fly to Vegas in style.

Since I really am not here to look at others; above my pay grade, not my job...
I don't mind or care what anyone does with their money.

Sure, my worldly mind, that I ' don't pay attention to' much...
wants
Tolle, Prem Rawat, Joyce, Creflo, Gurumayi, Amma...all of them to give their millions, collected, invested and earned,
to the hungry and medical facilities in Africa...while looking like Ramana Maharshi. Ha!

BUT, since I really don't know the Lila here....or Cosmic Dance...
They could be here for us to realize other things...
what? I dunno, really.
-That it is fun to act like a child and enjoy themselves?
-To show how to enjoy yourself?
-To demonstrate how we are so judgmental?
-To get us talking about how this is all a dream anyway?
-To show us how each moment we spend looking at another takes
us away from something way more valuable?

I'm not preaching this...these came to the top of my head...as in...
I dunno what's going on here exactly...at least the methods.

Pertinent story:
A pilgrim/devotee traveled on dusty roads forever to reach his Guru.
So what does the Guru do...he slanders him, mocks him, yells at him upon his arrival!
What?
(Now OUR minds could judge this, of course!)

But, it turns out the Guru knew he had an eye disease.
The ONLY thing that would cure it was a constant flow of his own tears.

Moral: We really just don't know very much at all.
Thus...the advice...
'Don't judge'...this is why;
we don't know enough to judge.
We do not have all the information.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

We know when we look trough the eye of the beholder. In other words, why does someone do what he does. There is allways a reason, only when a person is truly wacko it might be otherwise.
In other words, i dont agree with we just dont know very much at all. I would say speak for yourself. Its a bit generalizing isnt it?
If u truly want to know something then you can. Though for that you actually do have to know not very much at all. Otherwise u cant get much trough at all. Because like u said, the mind is a tool. And not to be filled with knowledge as far as i can see.

U mean pumping money in a bottomless pit?

i believe some actually do that. Or at least talk about it.

they do

they do

its not. Thats generalizing. But yes they do talk about illusions. That does not mean everything is an illusion.

i dunno, it depends on how u look at someone?

Quote:

why judge anyway? Even if you know enough, what is there to judge? That someone is bad and needs punishment? Exile? We can know enough to not judge but form an opinion and thus taking away possible assumptions.

And why is that? Where do u get that information from? U say in post 11 otherwise. This sounds contradicting.

Another example of not knowing much...similar to my 'Guru and tears' story.
Spent decades hating my father for being so awful till the
day he died, but only to ME!
Tried to forgive him. Couldn't

Then 2 years ago suddenly while doing something, outta the blue....I
get this vision ( I stopped breathing!).

I saw, literally saw: My father was one of my best friends...so much
so he agreed to be my father, me as a girl...to show me
just how awful I had been to women
...poo-pooing their feelings, lying to them, hurting them...

And still, it took decades in this life to have it sink in, to stop
being hurtful, rolling my eyes.

'Mean father' was really my 'best friend' doing me a huge favor.

Making generalizations?...ok...I know very little.
