Don't push it. Going against someone's bias may have the opposite effect.
Amplify what they do feel good about themselves, then they will believe it. Use what you know they feel good about themselves about to make correlations with other things they can slowly see with those same eyes.
Above all, love their low-self-esteemed self, because they don't have to change, they are perfect.

I think cognitive behavoural therapy helps with self esteem. It is used a lot for autistic kids and their parents. But I have seen it help adults who couldn't get along with anyone learn how to change the way they think and improve their relationships, which requires better self esteem. it is the only pschological therapy I would recommend.

What FairyCrystal and Saurab said is true, you can't help anyone with their self esteem, the only reason cognitive behavoural therapy works is that it required the person receiving the therapy to change the way they think about themselves and their expectations of others.
