Ha! The usual description of the lower self is the lower mind and emotions expressing through the physical body - in other words, the personality. The personality is the extension of the Higher Self in form, and is considered as the lower self because it is just a temporary set of vehicles for the purpose of a particular incarnation.

But most people still seem to identify with their personality, their lower self. If we think we are the personality then we believe that we are the doer, seeking success and fearing failure. And there is the ever-present fear of annihilation at physical death. The Higher Self has no such concerns.

Peace

Higher self, lower self, interesting topics for discussion, in special for the mind, but there's something deeper, something that you already are, something that you have always been and will always be.

The mind always appears to someone, find out to whom it appears to, to whom the mind is talking to? To whom the mind is presenting the thoughts?

You see, we identify with the mind but the mind seems to be talking with something or someone that is witnessing the whole play of life. If we are the mind, then to whom the mind is talking every day? And if we are the mind, then where's the mind when there are no thoughts,? You are still here but the mind is not, so are you the mind or are you something even deeper than the mind? And from where do thoughts arise? From where do the mind comes into existence? Find out that deeper thing from where all that you are comes into existence and the search will end, all the questions will be answered instantly.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

From the Kena Upanishad...

https://www.hinduwebsite.com/sacreds...arama/kena.asp

I. By whom commanded and directed does the mind go towards its objects? Commanded by whom does the life-force, the first (cause), move? At whose will do men utter speech? What power directs the eye and the ear?

II. It is the ear of the ear, the mind of the mind, the speech of the speech, the life of the life, the eye of the eye. The wise, freed (from the senses and from mortal desires), after leaving this world, become immortal.

It is that which pervades all things, the background from where all things arise and return into though it is none of the things.

None of the things can "touch" this background because once so this happens, the "things" become aware that they are not things ( they wake up, the knowing of the Self, the knowing of who you really are and not of who you think you are ) and so they melt into this ever-present sea of consciousness that appears as nothingness yet gives life to all that there is.
