This is pretty much what most saints have said.
Unless one's only love is for the divine, they may likely not attain it.
Yet many "saints"have also advocated the householders life, as a path.
A path of service to family & community.
We all have different things to learn, contribute, and the life of a celibate, renunciate certainly isn't for everyone.
We can serve humanity in many diverse ways, and volunteerism , contributions are only two of them.
Those who create art, poetry, inspired writing, music ..also elevate-inspire- add joy to humanity, as do teachers, nurses, dentists, hairdressers.
Anyone who treats others with compassion.
