Depending where you were, but we (homo erectus) harnesed fire, and began cooking. Our diets expanded by tenfold. We ate mostly plants (the hunte gatherers usually ate mostly plants) but scavanged and hunted as well. More or less each way depending on the climate and available resources.

We were indeed hunting meat, as there are animal bones with cut marks from stone tools.

That sounds like something a godless scientist would say....

With that logic, if it's a cosmic 'free for all' what would be your argument for not eating human flesh???

in some circumstances it can be survival but rarely in our society it is simply for pleasure, I myself have been vegetarian for nearly twenty years but if I had to eat an animal to survive I would, but also consider this in the case of making a decision to survive, if you were stranded on a desert island , you had veg and different animals then you would have to choose wisely and which would be painful for you to carry out the killing to eat them, I mean for instance if you had a dog and a milk producing cow the logical choice would be to eat the dog as the cow could carry on producing milk until you may have to eat that, besides that if there was a coconut palm who would kill their dog or the cow before eating the nuts?

Knight - Your first comment is a compliment, thanks. I don't think of myself a Christian, so I am godless. How is you being created from a star less compelling then a sky wizard?

For your second comment - We have in the past, and we are capable of it. We just don't find it satisfying eating our own species. Some animals do it, some don't, but all generally will if the circumstances arise. Animals don't survive mass extinctions by eating sand.....
