Positive and negative experiences are just human judgements on events.
Actions occur, cause brings effect, that is just part of the natural course of our physical 3d existence. That is karma.

When there is talk about "unconditional love" being at the core of existence, and then we do not see it being evidenced in daily life, that becomes a time where we have to think "what do we REALLY know about the nature of unconditional love?".
Perhaps what we think of unconditional love in the human sense is different than what is unconditional love in the cosmic sense.
In the cosmic sense, unconditional love is a harmony and oneness with everything.
But in a personal human perspective, we (in general) do not have this as our constant awareness. We witness the world through our 3d manifestation, with all our physical senses and consciousness that is limited to the physical stimulation within our physical brain. This creates for us a sense of "personal experience" outside of the "oneness". Basically, it shells us into our ego.

As such, the personal movements in the world are no longer in harmony with the whole and oneness, and instead cause cause and effect reactions that stir up the harmony.
As we grow as spiritual beings, we become more and more aware of the cosmic oneness and harmony, and it becomes up to us to manifest it more and more. The more we become aware of cosmic harmony and act accordingly, the less the effects of karma are at play.

On a side note, you also have to understand that what is positive and what is negative are all based on our personal views and judgements of life. Even the most deranged psychotic believes inside that the actions they are taking are for the better good of life. We may see it differently than they do, but from their perspective, they are wanting the same thing we do...they want to make the world a better place. Unfortunately they do not have the capacity to see their own errors of judgement. But I guess that is true of all of us from time to time.
