What belief? The belief that you are an I and a self? Sorry, but I would say that you do have those beliefs. For as long as you are functioning like a regular human, then on some level you believe that you exist, therefore you see who you are as an I and a self.

Do you ever talk of accepting yourself, or loving yourself, or forgiving yourself? Do you ever use the word 'yourself' in conversation? Have you ever said that you like or dislike yourself or that you are happy or unhappy with yourself? Do you ever think about yourself?

These are just a few examples of hundreds in which we talk about an I and a self that we 'have'.
