Why does everyone have to go through so much pain when they are dying?

Physical or emotional?
Both are choices, emotional pain is a personal choice
Physical pain are choices we make through our life, how we live our life.

I don't think emotional pain is a personal choice because few people realize it CAN BE a personal choice. Unless a person has that insight, they have no idea about it.

Death isn't painful. You don't even know you've crossed over half the time.

Amen to that. It's life that's the pain. I had open heart surgery a little over a year ago, and the physical healing went quick compared to the emotional stuff that I am still becoming awake to and aware of...with a little help from my friends.

That's just life as we all have karma to pay. Some karma are heavier than others so they go through more pain. There's consequences to everything we do in this world..good or bad. If we cause other pain, then eventually the pain will come back to us as we need to learn what it feels like to be in someone's shoes. However, there are mercy. If you do a lot of good deeds, you can cancel out your bad karma. So be kind and help as much as you can in life.
