Higher self vs spirit guides

Hi forum,

Why do we need spirit guides, why our higher self is not enough as a guide? Because we don't love ourself enough (in which case higher self connection is difficult) and we need others?

What do you think?

Thanks,

3dnow

I've always considered my guide as a step to my higher self. I don't know if others have this same impression but it would be interesting to find out.

I like to think of the process as a journey to reacquainting with your higher self when you are ready.

Hi there!

Good point, always look inwards and never outside for "quick fixes", that is what I find to be the right way at least.

My true self was(still is to some big extent sometimes) coverred with karma, bad thoughts, bad notions and external interference - and very hard to find. A spirit is an external being from a low dimensional level who tries to make a deal with you, it gives you some energy and powers and take some stuff from your body in return. I believe they are very dangerous and personally experienced a bad event once when the spirit got really mad at me.

If a God writes a book, is it not more righteous information than if a spirit guide tells you to do this or that? Has he no hidden agenda?

I cultivate in Falun Dafa and in that cultivation school Fa(law) study(study the scriptures of how to improve yourself in daily life) is the key to success.

Follow the law of a God and you have a chance to become one some day after lots of hard work on yourself.

Most people are conditioned from birth to look outside themselves for validation and proof. It's very difficult to accept that you may have an older, wiser aspect of your Self which will work in concord with you. Having said that, our spirit friends can be valuable sounding-boards and sources of knowledge... but alway trust Self first. Free will, dontcha know.

How much trust do you have in yourself? How much external validation do you need?

I think of the higher self as "the ideal me" and I have friends (spirit guides or what I would call my angels). Not always seeking validation from them (though you could if you want) but you know how sometimes you want to exchange ideas or interact with people who have your best interest in mind and you want to have a discussion with trusted, well-meaning folk so you go ask your girlfriend or your guy friend, "Hey! What do you think of this?" It's a good conversation, you know? And you could very well learn a lot about yourself and the world.

I think in the end we are all really different aspects of one being, so it seems natural to think of a spirit guide as some external/psychological/spiritual representation of your higher self.

Yep, I think your answers to those questions would settle it. Really, whether it's a spirit guide or your higher self, it's still good to connect with it, so whatever works for ya!

That's the one. However, something does make me wonder though. If we are all One, is it about Inner Self vs Spirit Guides after all? If we are One then are they all One and the same?

Is it better to have a sexy little sports job or a 4x4???

there are myriad spirits, but "guides" that "we all" have I believe are a new age abstraction of truth. I feel there is truth in it, but many times the main "guide" is the "self".
