Shambhala Training
How useful is a meditation retreat or training and why? Is it necessary to go through it, or can one learn themselves from books and videos?

Is it better to have a golf coach the first time you play golf or is it best to just go out and start swinging..
Yes the retreat and training are very beneficial just like a golf coach.

The best thing about it is it provide a sanctuary to practice with no distractions or excuses though you can learn it in books or even on YouTube or here for that matter or just wing it and go deep within your self
