Book1 Colouring In

...or, 'coloring in' if you are from the US of A.

This long-forgotten childhood passtime is currently seeing a resurgence.

I think I was the one who brought it back into vogue some two years ago. lol

I own 6 colouring books and about 200 colour pencils and crayons. It's like the ultimate exercise in mindfulness meditation and I'll sometimes do this instead of my regular meditation.

My favourite book is my mandala one and I have a nice display of them blu-tacked to my refrigerator.

If you are new to meditation, or feeling bogged down and need a break, try it.

It's also rewarding to complete your works of art and just sit there admiring it.

Sometimes I also get rather tactile and head straight for my stash of kinetic sand and start making little sculptures out of it.

Revisit what made you happy and peaceful as a child. Those things still hold much relevance now, more than they ever did.

Peace.

I love colouring. I remember when young almost 'zoning out' whilst colouring. I'm in my late 40s now and still have a pencil case full of coloured pencils (mostly Faber Castell or Derwent) and often spend a pleasant half-hour or so colouring in the afternoon. Very relaxing and highly recommended.

Even the famous Carl Jung was deep into coloring mandalas as he unlocked the mysteries of the subconscious.

Ah colouring books... the newest of news slightly old now, shall I then offer canvases in white just simply drawn on or embolden those drawn lines in black, thick and to be followed. Choose your own colours you modern gunslingers and arise as forgotten ninjas already on scrapheaps of personal indulgence... ah, the sweet life of endless Saturdays.
