Totem - Tiger

Hello SF,

Not sure if this is the correct place to stick this, but it was worth a shot.

Anyways, back in October, when I began my recovery from a metal disorder, tiger has come to me. He makes himself noticed nearly daily, multiple times daily. Most commonly he is on clothing, a sport mascot or in photos.

I feel as though he is speaking and I'm not hearing. Would it be useful to meditate on him, or ask him to join me during meditation? Should I adopt some tiger qualities/play pretend as a tiger? I have seen such suggestions but never put any into practice. I have also watched vides, read and analyzed information about them.

Are there any suggestion for me to talk with my totem animal?

So, my suggestion would be first to have a google to find out what qualities a tiger totem brings and so to find out why you might value from having a tiger as a totem.

THen, just talk to him, call on him according to the qualities.

I have read many topics from various websties about Tiger. Mostly balance and strength were the topics.

How do I "call on him according to various qualities"?

So, it's best to first get to know the tiger. Talk to the tiger as if it were a real being with you. See what comes up in response.

As to calling on them, when you need balance or strength - say hey tiger, help me, I need balance. Or "i need strength".

I have a polar bear as a totem and if i'm feeling threatened by any situation or person i say "hey polar bear" and i imagine myself being wholly and utterly protected and i allow the polar bear to do this for me.

Darkest Nation, welcome to SF! So glad you found this site!

If you can, might you be able to find a traditional Indigenous teacher or Elder or cultural advisor in your area? they might provide the best source of information about your question, if you are looking for an Indigenous perspective.

I thought it helpful to also include a link to help make educated decisions around referring to literature on Indigenous traditions. there are a lot of "new age" books out there which are not respectful to the peoples whose traditions they exploit. You seem like an intelligent seeker who wants accurate information. This might help you find resources that share authentic info:

Keep discovering!

Thank you! The link is very helpful!

I am not seeking indigenous aid currently, but if I come upon it I'll absolutely be thrilled!
