Perhaps "enlighenment" in Buddhism concept is not something we know , is not something we seek to know and is not something we will know .......Buddhism is beyond knowledge , is realization of own existence , own emotion , cause of own existence ..........
Perhaps is you discovering your own "self" , your own desire , emotion , fear , love , greed , etc and as you progress into this path , your emotion , your attachment on your emotion / knowledge will naturally deceased ..............and as the process goes on , your emotion will naturally reduced until there is no emotion , no desire , no fear , no love etc .
"enlighternment" in my current understanding is a condition of " no emotion" , closer to emptiness .....and as you journey into this process , you will separate "yourself" , all your emotions and "you" - the Buddha .....and you will be you , the Buddha - the nothingness .
So "enlighternment" in my current understanding is not something you will find from your emotion , is not something out of your practice , is not creation from your emotions or something given to you ....enlighterment in my current understanding is a condition of " no emotion" ......so perhaps the more you trying to search for "enlighterment" , the more emotion you will create and this will longer journey into emptiness .........
I hope to debate with anyone here for my own learning process .
Thks

Maybe narrow it down some?
Try Wikipedia to start.

Wouldn't everyone just recommend their own school? I can't do that. Our's is an oral tradition. One has to live in the area. So i would recommend our tradition, Vajrayana.
Problem is, what would be best suited to you? The schools are very different from one another. Traditions more so. I don't think we even define enlightenment the same way. And that's only what's classified or called Buddhism. There are many others within Hinduism and Taoism for instance. Thus the overview from Wikipedia.

I've been looking into this a lot this year, most people who consider themselves enlightened or awake always tell you that basically there is nothing you can do to become enlightened except to just...be! Easy to say perhaps when you are enlightened lol but it seems to be the truth!

This is a great bit of info!
I personally like to watch videos from a channel on youtube called 'Buddha at the gas pump' Rick Archer interviews many people who consider themselves enlightened or awake, there is some great testimonials from people who give insight into their understanding of enlightenment etc.!
Check out his channel!

We are all learning about enlightenment. I love all the suggestions here, keep looking until you find what is right for you. See if there is a Buddhist center near you and check it out. That is where I got started. Good luck to you.

There are just so many definitions, it can be confusing. When 10 people are sharing, but it's all about 10 different concepts, well?

Hi jojo95,
Enlightenment is the cessation of greed, hatred and delusion.
To find out more, I suggest you visit and investigate some Buddhist centres. You can find out what's available in your part of the world by using Buddhanet's World Buddhist Directory : http://www.buddhanet.info/wbd/
With best wishes to you,
Sam
