Why malas & rosaries have 108 beads
1 to the first power x 2 to the second power x 3 to the third power = 108
in other words,
1x1 X 2x2 X 3x3x3 = 108
You can see the pattern.
(I'd have written the formula or equation with "super-script" numerals for two squared and three cubed, but this message-board window has no provision for that.)
The Hindu and Buddhist malas usually have 108 beads (generally with a 109th bead to indicate the starting & ending point of the main 108 beads). I’ve been told the Roman Catholic rosary also has 108 beads.
Some Hindu spiritual teachers say that “in India, there are 108 names for God”. The sacredness of the number seems related to the mysteries of the fundamental laws of mathematics.

Way a guy in India once explained it.
Spirit is 1
We are 0
Infinity is represented by 8
