Reference
Some say dreams are our unconscious working, others say they are omens, and still others will say they are messages. What is a good reference book or web site about dreams meanings and what is in the dreams mean. Example: you dream about a dog, what do dogs possibly mean? You dream of a field and your the only on in it, what do fields represent? I hope you get my drift.

one trick is to get beyond the names for the things you see in your dreams, and think about what it is they do, how they present themselves to the world. So for example water has certain qualities, and if you think about the ones that seem evident in a dream about water you can learn something of what the dream means. Kinda like the scissors, paper, stone game in some ways you can think about the qualities of the objects and about how they interact? So when a dream presents itself you've got various objects and maybe if you think about what they do naturally and how they interact you'll get a feel for what the dream means.
well that is my 2C... I prefer things like that to book learning but maybe that is just me lol
