Transcendental Meditation

I've heard Ellen Degeneres and Russell Brand talk about this form of meditation and David Lynch has some kind of 'foundation' about it.

They sing its praises, the only problem though is that it costs from 300 to 600 euro and probably more in dollars and pounds to avail of it, they also say in their FAQ "Definitly not a cult" The books on it are just very expensive brochures.
I've also heard that its pretty much a mantra meditation.

I'm still curious, has anyone here used this form of meditation and if so, is there any way I can learn it for free?

i would have thought that all meditation is transcendental in that it transcends... eventually the normal state of affairs. any mediation then will eventually get you transcending.

There are great teachers whom are also compassionate enough to offer free meditations and or by donation. Its just my opinion but its absurd to me why someone feels they need so much money. It doesn't cost that much to live unless materialism is your god.

I will give you my address in a pm ... to send a donation...

Find a word of your choice..Om, HU, Hare Krishna...or a sentence with meaning to you...
I am Love;
You are everywhere, Lord,
You are everywhere, Lord...
You are everywhere, Lord.

Do this in a comfortable position where you won't fall asleep...relax your breathing before you start - belly breathing is a common term...
Now say or think this phrase or word for 20 minutes, 2 times a day.

You will see wonderful differences in yourself within a week.

Let us know if you last one week doing the 2 sessions of 20 minutes.
So many people just do not have the discipline...thus, the money or initiation hoops, the waiting process of listening to the guru's discourses....
you/we don't value that which we don't 'work' for in some way.

It is common knowledge when giving away kittens, puppies...'always
charge even a little
'...bec you don't value what you don't pay for.

It's a weird thing, but psychology teaches it in college to business and advertising students.
I have found it to be true.

Also, the initiates, given their personal, secret mantra or word in TM later
found out there were, what,
3 basic words given out to everyone?

Keep a simple, open heart.

Oh, and there are WAY better meditations...the mantra always ends...but it is a good start.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

The psychology behind giving something for something makes sense. I believe we are programmed from birth to think in these ways. I feel as though it can become greedy when its to a point only few could afford. In the befining of my search i hadnt realy had a chance to think about it. And money tends to come easy for me. Then the universe began my oneness with those that have less. That gave me a lot to contemplate about. Since then I steer away from things that people with less cant be a part of. I'm not attempting to change anyones minds about these things. I'm just expressing my experience
