Ramayana- A Real historic narration?

Ramayana as we all know, stands tall-one of the greatest epics in Indian history. It is very important that the immense values & insights that Ramayana has garnered to its readers are passed on to genrations to come as well.
At this juncture, it would be good to clarify on the origin of Ramayana, that of Valmiki's composition.

Was it a real string of incidents passed on to us through Valimiki?? or was it from some divine vision that kindled him to compose?

Hi there,
in my opinion ramayana is nothing divine. It is an epic, a story based on very true facts.
We shouldn'tforget the time the story was written. It was a highly scientifically developed time in history. It was then when things like artificial insemination, cloning,astral travel, missiles, air travel was already in practice.

With time the earth went thru scientific and spiritual decline. the original writings were naturally lost in the process.the story however was passed down from mouth to mouth. Due to the ignorance , and the spiritual decline of the new age population, they were unable to understand high scientific/spiritual advances in those times. Facts desribed in the story were then posed to be magic, miracles of the divine. new dimensions were added on or subrtacted to the story to make it more fitable and understandable to the local people....This is the birth of MYTHOLOGY:
eg in Ramamyana they describe ravana as being 10 headed, which is true since he was very versatile and brilliant and had had the intellegence equalling that of 10 heads/people......the list is unending.
