Did Vyasa write the Vedas?

What evidence is there that Vyasa first wrote down the Vedas at the time of the Mahabharata War 5000 years ago?

There is no evidence for it. Not all Hindus and Yogis claim that he wrote the whole Vedas, though he is considered the author of the Mahabharata. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vyasa .

It is believed that humans did not compose the revered compositions of the Vedas, which were handed down through generations by the word of mouth from time immemorial. The general assumption is that the Vedic hymns were either taught by God to the sages or that they were revealed themselves to the sages who were the seers or “mantradrasta” of the hymns. The Vedas were mainly compiled by Vyasa Krishna Dwaipayana around the time of Lord Krishna (c. 1500 BC)

VEDA - the being

Dear seekerscientist,

Vyasa divided Veda in four . Rig Veda , Sum Veda , Jajur Veda and Atharva Veda, also he derived Upanishad Sutras (108 in total) , Aranyaka and Bhrambhan Sutras.

Veda was as a whole before .... after this Rishi Krishna Dwaipayan was named as VEDAVAYASA ..... yes Krishna Dwaipayan was his name before ..... his mother was Padmagandha ... and father was Shantanu .... yes the father of whole Mahabharata.... there is a very interesting story .... but i am skipping it to the point of discussion.but in a sense Mahabharat was his family history which he foresaw and narrated while viewing the future ...... and lord Ganesha Wrote the whole mahabharata.

1st thing VEDA is not 5000 to 6000 BC manuscript .... as said to believed by the deviced ARYAN INVASION theory. Things have been changed after death of MAX MULLER and many interesting facts came out through scientific research .... truth never stays hidden. From the astrological planetary position given in the Mahabharata during the Kuruskhetra War ... and from carbon dating test of the soil led by California university .... it is confirmed the war was around 4000BCE to 3700BCE (wikipedia says from 6000BCE to 500BCE ) ...... any way ... it was end of Dwapara Yuga when this war happened. .......... and Mahabharata was written before that ....... Again ..... Vedas was divided By VedaVayasa that time too .......
BUT VEDA WAS PRESENT RIGHT FROM THE SATYA YUGA.

Veda was in PASHYANTI state ...... (in brief ...sound have 4 state of presence in the cosmos ..... "Baikhari " in which we talk and listen , "Madhyama" which can be used by higher yogies sith subtle sense , we may experience this in deep meditation ........ but we can not produce or hear such "Madhyama" state of sound normally, **"Pashyanti" or visible form of Sound ...... Rishi of Vedas use to see Sound as Vibrating codes , that is why they are called "MANTRADRASTA RISHI" ...... they were the seer of all the mantras of VEDA ....... , and "PARA" or unmanifested primordial soundform is the fourth state of sound which is beyond timeline.)
Veda decended from Pashyanti to Madhyama in Treta Yuga (after Satya Yuga) ..... because people was less accessible to Pashyanti state of sound ........ that is called SHRUTI ....... disciple used to remember ALL of the veda and there was no written form ...... after that ... in Dwapara .... RISHI KrishnaDwaipayan Understood .... at the end of Dwapara and starting of KALI yuga ..... people will not have access to MADHYAMA and Veda in Shruti can have trouble to exist for them who seek.
And so he divided Veda in 4 main volumes ...108 Upanishds (many derived afterwordas) , 22 Bhrambhan Sutras , and Aryanakas ..... thus he was VEDA- VAYASA ...... VAYASA - means who divides.

So who was the writer or the accumulator or ... The being .... of Veda ....... !! there is no name in veda of the writters .... they didn't wanted to forcaste their names on BBC in kali yuga perhaps ....
but ..... there is one adjective about the writer of veda in the very beginning of RIG VEDA ........ that is
"UrdhaMulamAdhaSakhamasattangPraharuAbayam"
this much ...... which means ... who wrote was .... "Urdha Mulam - roots was upwards ..... Adha Sakhamasattang - branches downwords ..... Praharu - such a big tree of life with fullest expansion ..... Abayam - which is immortal"

now where is such tree which has upward roots with its branches downwards with full expasion of its life force and Immortal too ?
see our central nervous system ...... being the brain is the root ..... with all the branches of nerves exchanging knowledge and experience with the nature ..... but we use only 5% of our brain ...... that is the characteristic of the writer .... he or she or they used 100 % of its capacity which is pure consciousness , which is definitely immortal.
Veda is still alive in Pashyanti .... supreme consciousness never dies , its the being of all being ...its just we don't have access due to yuga dharma ..... this is kali ..... and this was destined ...... every centripetal force equally balanced by centrifugal force .

OM TAT SAT
