Don't worry too much about the AIs taking over. Both China and India are developing pulse-jet powered missiles that can fly at 13,000mph, they're virtually impossible to track because of their trajectories. The earth may be a nuclear wasteland by then so AIs may not be so much of a problem after all.
It's the stuff of science fiction and it's been around for many years, even before Buck Rogers, but yesterday's science fiction is yesterday's science fact and a few things that appeared in Star Trek are either happening now or in development. Going forwards with our own development from the days of the Sumerian Annunaki to where we are now, are we exceeding our programming in the way it's already been portrayed time and again in science fiction? God may not be dead yet but he's standing on uncertain ground. Mankind becoming the creators of artificial intelligence may only be the beginning of next cycle of the created destroying its creators. If that does happen then where does consciousness go from there? Does artificial intelligence have consciousness? Is our intelligence artificial?

Having looked at (skimmed over) the wiki page on AI I think that Kerzweils' singularity is a very very long time away.

the future arrives in 2045
Can we create an AI human looking person who can go on to be a grocery clerk, an author, a movie star? I think so, this type of tech is pre planned, programed, and it’s already here; they are all over the entertainment industry if you want to believe some of the youtube videos.
But one that controls air traffic, teaches kindergarten, performs heart surgery? A human equivalent, who reads emotions? Not likely. There are too many subtleties; we are problem solvers without perimeters. Within our emotional make up there are so many nuances not even we can sometimes read each other accurately. Unless of course we were profoundly changed to become as predictable as robots.
We don’t yet understand how the brain works how can we build one?

You had me almost dying from laughter because of that title. Yes the future does indeed arrive in 2045. The future arrives the next second, minute, hour, day, week, month, year, decade, century and so on. The future also arrives after now. The future doesn't seem to stop arriving.

That is completely true yet irrelevant and uncalled for. I did not make the title, it was the author of the article that is responsible. Did you click the link?

Nope, I did not. Regardless of who authored the title I still found it hilarious, and I felt like sharing my feelings.
