What does it feel like...

...to be the one giving reiki? I have gotten reiki before, but am taking the next step to take the level 1 class so I can do it to myself and family and friends, if they are open to it of course. Can you describe what it physically feels like when you are the healer?

In my opinion there is no specific answer to your question as you may feel nothing physically when working with reiki. Level 1 classes will give you a foundation in reiki and will allow you to start working on yourself. this will allow you to learn how reiki feels to you as an individual. How it feels depends on who you are working with etc.

My hands literally feel like they're opening up.

As ces said, do Reiki on yourself. When you can feel it working, pay attention to your hands.

Knowing Reiki is a blessing.


My first experience was that of my hands turning hot when I invoked Reiki, and that too when my room was very cold.

I do experience both Hot and Cold sensations on different occasions. Sometimes I feel cold energy but when I ask the receiver, they report feeling hot and vice versa.

I sense the energy swirling in both my palms, like you know how a chakra spins; I do get this while giving and receiving Reiki. It’s a blessing to have learnt Reiki. Also I feel the energy pulsating toward the receiver and also while I ground it in the end.

I also somehow seem to know the degree of the pain and exactly where the problem is without the receiver having to tell me, my hands are guided. Sometimes I feel a bubbling kind of feeling in my palm , as if something is being sucked out of the receiver.

oLast but not least I was taught by my master to always ask permission before sending Reiki, Unless it’s a situation of emergency, I Once did a distant Reiki healing to one of my close relative (forgot to ask permission) and the energy came back to me like you know a bright light, strong energy and it made my eyes uncomfortable, my master told me that some might have deep resistance and advised me to seek permission and then do it, then I did not have any such experiences

When I give healing, I always experience a strong tingling in my body, especially in my arms... even stronger towards my forearms and hands. Also, heat is always present in my hands, altho never super intense. My eyes almost always tear up as well.
I've had one experience where I saw a mist between my hands and the receiver's body.

But, I suspect like all things, it is an individual thing to the person. There is no formulaic feeling as to what it might feel like to receive reiki and no formulaic feeling as to what it would be like to give reiki. Avoid any expectations if you can.
