Good old sayings
Was just reading an article about old Scouse (Liverpool) sayings and laughed my head off cos my dad used to use them and some of them are still used today.
Here’s a few;
She’s got a mouth like the Mersey tunnel. (Big mouth and loud)
They’de take the eyes outa yer head if ya weren’t lookin. (People who steal)
Where are yer going dad. In me knees son.
If yer fall an break your leg, don’t come runnin to me.
You’re as much use to me as an ashtray on a motor bike.
Last time I saw a mouth like that it had a hook on it. (Big lips and mouth)
So has anybody got any good old saying from their part of the world.
AngelB. You should have some gooduns from Yorkshire.

I'll have a think...!
I'll expand on one of yours
"They'd take your eyes if you weren't looking and even THEN they'd come back and steal your sockets " LOL.

Yeah I know that one!!!
I was with a bunch of Yorkshire guys/girls when I lived in Africa and when they had a few they used to sing that at the top of their voices and we would sing “In my Liverpool Home”. Good memories lol

She looks like mutton dressed as lamb.
She's all fur coat and no knickers.
Who knitted your face and dropped a stitch.

There's an odd one that you may understand if you google some of the dresses worn by some female performers is 'She looks like a floating kidney' one I misheard as a kid was when we were ordered to tidy our room because it looked like a bomsy tip, rather than 'It looks like a bombs hit it' -a few others when we mithered with certain questions 'to see a man about a dog' 'up my **** on the second shelf' or when asking whats for tea '$*** with sugar on' (only repeating historical fact!) 'coming the Oliver' I think may have come from some of Oliver Hardy's way of dealing with situations-will have to google that though!
