Is consciousness aware of its self?

Is consciousness just an observer with no reflection. Is it so busy just being the witness it has no awareness of its self.

When or where does the inquiry stop.

I'm inclined to think, that consciousness knows itself, but its just to stubborn too reply.

We are aware of the world around us....that is awareness.

We are also aware that we are aware of the world around us.....that is self-awareness. So yes.

Is a goldfish aware of itself? Some people say they have no memory but I find that hard to believe.

Only the goldfish can answer that.

These are just terms we use to get a handle on the idea and reality that we can distance ourselves from thoughts and emotions and further the attachments they bring when this distance isn't there.

These terms themselves aren't important.

This consciousness as watcher can forget itself... it's when ideas of self disappear and the consciousness just is and the awareness of being something apart from everything isn't remembered... but it comes back.

Hard to explain... just practise then you'll know.

I think most people are not aware of much.. Language has limitations but pristine awareness has no such limitations.

There is only Consciousness, everything arises from Consciousness, Consciousness doesn't need to know itself, it is its SELF. We as the mind body organism with our self conscious, wants to know everything, but when we immerge into our true self, or Consciousness, all questions are dropped, in Consciousness we are all there is, nothing needs to be known, that belongs to the mind of the mind body organism.
