"1 Corinthians 13
New International Version (NIV)
13 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing."
(St. Paul)

Just wondering where does love come from? Do we need to be aware of ourself first to love another, meaning do we need to love ourself first in order to love another. I do not know, but if we do need to love ourself first, does that mean; we need to have some type of "ego" to love another?

Jesus stated this regarding the greatest commandments...
"
"To love the Lord your God with all of your heart, and all of your mind, and all of your spirit. And, to love your neighbor as yourself."
In which, it was stated, resides all of the Law, and the testimony of the prophets.

"Love thy mind, Love thy Soul, Love thy Lord"
This message resounded through my thoughts as I was meditating today.

Through loyal love and truth iniquity is appeased; through fearing the LORD one avoids evil. (Prov 16:6, NET)

Yes, I agree, R. K.
We are to understand also that everything we do or say causes ripples throughout both the human spectrum, and in Eternity.
Jesus had stated that we will give an account for every idle word spoken, or communicated.

Morpheus has spoken well. There is a difference between love and egocentricism. Before my being born again I had no regard for anyone other than my self, but I did not love myself. I had no idea what love is until I experienced God's love for me and he created within me a clean heart capable of loving God and others.
The English word, "love" is much too vague and can be applied to many things. Perhaps "Agape" is the better word to describe spiritual love for God, ourselves and others.
