For me, it's both. I find spirit in looking at the good in the world in all its forms. I think spirit sometimes can reach us through people who are challenging. It helps me to feel more grateful when I can thank spirit for these things, even when the actual person who taught or helped me realize something is unkind or indifferent. Sometimes it's hard to see the lesson, or blessing. I also find love from my higher power is reflected to me through spirit beings, blessings, and the right thing at the right "coincidental" time, which might require some interaction with the world, sometimes in some particular, intentional way, perhaps.

Even though I only spend much time with one other person, that's a big part of what connecting with spirit means for me. But, it has to be with the right people who I feel connected to. Giving, sharing, and getting out of my own head into the world of others is necessary for me, for a large part of every (or most) days. It keeps my heart open and warm and my mind clear and calm and gets me out of overthinking. It makes fun things more enjoyable, without them becoming too hedonistic or excessive. I feel my deepest connection to spirit is forged in solitude, prayer, spiritual study, introspection, divination, visions, but is strengthened, and most balanced and purposeful with others. If I didn't feel able to connect very well to any other people one day, I'd try to commune only with God and spirit beings. Or, expand my circle of who I can relate to, however best seemed possible.

You are Neo if you break free from it.
You are random Joe/Jane if you don't question it.
You are Cypher if to you ignorance is bliss.
