Haha brilliant .
Yes, we can definatly customise the lyrics ....
Maybe not England , as we have to consider everyone with who they support ....
But yes , we can think about certain words....
...
Maybe "football" instead of "baby "...

Plus that was only my own idea, other ideas for our own anthem are open for discussion LOL...

Ooohhhhh but I'm so excited !!!!

Oh I just noticed that our Joe Gomez is in the England squad as well. So happy for him. He is a real work horse, a bit like Henderson.

No, I don’t think GS would drop him if he was fully-fit, because a fully-fit Harry Maguire is great for England. He is outstanding in the air and prominent in both boxes. It means that we’re taking some relatively inexperienced players to be first-teamers at a tournament, but this is something that’s happened before. Jordan Pickford and Harry Maguire were relative rookies going into the 2018 World Cup, and did really well. Southgate himself went into Euro 96 with only about 4 caps I think, but played really well. Sometimes, you just have to take a chance on a new player.

I agree that the talent we have coming through is immense. I have never known an England team with such strength and depth. This is definitely down to the academy of excellence we opened in 2013. Thanks to that, we can now develop real technically-gifted players which the continentals have been doing for decades.

France opened one in 1988, and have been producing quality players consistently. Spain did the same in 2010 and so have Germany (but I don’t exactly know when). All 3 countries have won tournaments since doing so.

There will come a time though, when the national team isn’t that great (just like Germany in 2004 or France in 2010) because football runs in cycles, so let’s enjoy things whilst we have a great squad.

Hi Neil.
I think that was why I was quite shocked when I read Maguire had not made the team. When you explained I thought "phew". Not that I would want him to be injured of course.

The only thing I ever worry about with him is if he's going to "explode" and lose his rag !!!!!
He seems a bit hot headed at times...
But he's a Yorkshire lad so we forgive him anything LOL....

Honestly , the talent coming through is BEYOND immense and I would imagine it's been very difficult for Southgate to choose his squad.

As for Southgate, you've got to admire him .
I'm thinking back to him in his earlier days of footy and being in the England squad.
From my recollection he was not one of the "big guns" ... Wasn't one of the players that made a name for themselves wherever they went.
He was just there, steady, un-assuming .

But what he has done with our National team in these last few years is nothing short of Brilliant .
And so I have every faith that he has chosen the right squad.

I Love him. I really do.

I am listening to Carol Vordeman on LBC at the moment and I just caught an ad by a bet firm I had never heard of and offering 100/1 for England to win the world cup.(I bet it could be a new firm who will take bets then declare bankruptcy if England do win, and if they don't win they get to keep all the cash and carry on)
