Non-smoker inexperience with smoking
Hello all! This is my first time posting on here.
Last night I had a series of dreams being that I woke up quite a bit during the night. In one of my dreams, I was walking in the street, smoking a cigarette. I noticed a lot of people around me smoking, as well. I walked over to an entrance of a mall where there people milling about smoking too. I remember thinking, "this is so not me, why am I doing this?" I walked over to the trash and just threw the cig out without snubbing it and of course, something caught on fire! I had to reach in and smolder it before the fire grew. I can't remember if I felt embarrassed by any of this but I just felt out of my element. I think I may have even tried smoking the smashed cigarette!
Immediately I woke up to research what this could mean. I found a couple of different things.
Hoping you can help me figure this one out.

This dream could relate to something you are doing in real life. You feel like you do not belong in that situation. It could be a job, or a relationship..You hesitate about leaving the situation.

Smoking is a self destructive addictive habit. In the dream world is isn't necessarily about the act of smoking but about behavior that is self destructive or addictive and hard to stop. This could be with how you deal with and interact in life. People get caught up in it and even buy into it as a way of life for example having a tendency to blow things out of proportion or see all the events in life as an emergency. You are becoming aware of some defeating tendency in me that you can now see in others as well and want to simply do away with the behavior but just tossing it aside will not eliminate the problem. It may just keep is smoldering and become a bigger deal later on. So look at your life and some behavior or habit you may have decided you wanted to change but look to the reasons why you may have the habit as opposed to just decrying that you shouldn't do it anymore. We usually behave and react in ways that serve to protect us even if they seem self destructive. so just try and understand the hurt underneath that may be fueling any behavior you find unappealing that you want to free yourself from.
