Is meditation right for me

well basically I went off to college and was struck with some bad anxiety/depression/derealization not even entirely sure on the diagnoses still waiting to see. I don't believe i'm suffer a major psychological disorder but here are my thoughts. Basically as of late my head has been filled with constant fighting with itself back in forth. I feel like i have become trapped in my own thoughts and quite honestly I don't feel like me anymore. I find that I have lost a lot of interest in life, not to say I was ever overly motivated/interested in life but a lot of my time now is just spent playing video games. I want to know if meditation would help improve my mental health. Will I begin to feel more focus/motivated and know what I want to do? I feel like i can't be certain about anything and need help

Try putting down the video games for a while, let's say a month or so. Learn some basic meditation techniques, focusing on the breath is a good one & spend a bit of time studying some basic Buddhism. Mindfulness is one of the techniques taught in Buddhism, a basic one that I know is mindfulness in the bathroom. You give full concentration to whatever you're doing, brushing teeth, washing left leg, washing right arm etc. after a while you can expand on this to doing other basic chores like washing dishes or vacuuming. Try it for a while & see how you go. Remember that these ideas don't take the place of whatever a professional counsellor/psychologist is recommending you do.

Ok, probably not major psychological disorder, and whoever diagnosed you or is doing a diagnosis will probably explain some options. In the meantime, why not google meditation in relation to anxiety/depression/derealization and see what you can find out.
