I am retreating to a more primitive version of my path and have been doing so for some time. The Cunning Folk always had a tradition of being associated with Nature Spirits rather than deities, and that is the way I am going. This was triggered some time back by a manifestation of the Spirit of the river where I made my original vows many years ago and I have revised my ritual to allow for this. I drink the water of the river daily [ even have a supply at home], this takes the essence of the Spirit into my body. In return, I make a small blood offering to the river. So, as Jenny said, I am going down the path of ancient pagan traditions. Hopefully, going right back to the beginnings.

That's exciting, Norseman. Did the Spirit of the river have a name and was it a feminine Spirit. What a great experience. I'm not meaning to pry - I'm just so interested. If you are not free to tell us - that's OK.

Feminine in essence and form certainly, Jenny. She slapped me round the chops a few times before the penny dropped. I always assumed that messages were from Gaia [which was extremely arrogant of me], but then I got a suspicion that everything that happened was in close proximity to Swaledale and the river Swale - my "temple and altar" have been there since the beginning and I have always roamed the moors bordering that river since I was about 17 - but still the penny did not drop. Then a manifestation and finally, I caught on.
I am happy with the situation because it seems more personal, more one-to-one than a deity which is too big for me to comprehend really. This spirit in more man-sized and someone that I can "talk" to. It is helping me to realise how the Cunning Folk and Spirits of Nature were close. Perhaps we will meet "across the hedge" sometime.

thats a beautiful blend of ritual, faith, and nature norseman.

Everyones ideas and advice have helped enormously! I want to do my intuitation rite at night during a full moon night. I also read a ritual by scott cummingham in his solitary wicca book.

Its strange but i want it to be more goddess focused.

LOL I think most people have had one of those "duh" moments - I know I have. It all sounds wonderful, very spiritual with a true connection to Nature - a true Cunning Man. Thanks, Norseman.
