Finding your calling?

Anyone have any good personal stories on how you found your calling? I'm hoping maybe one of your stories will help those of us who don't really know what we're supposed to do with our lives. How did you know when you had found yours? Did it seem ridiculous or very obvious? Hard or easy? I'm not really sure where to go next with my own life, and I'm sure I'm not the only one on here with the same problem. Thank you in advance!

I feel or have an inner knowing about the choices I make, and I pay dearly when I kick against those intuitions.

But I have no answer to why I must walk that way. Sometimes I want to see a purpose or a calling...but that want is a craving of the small mind to know. And perhaps it can't.

What do you mean by calling, Thought? Are you expecting it to be something..... what exactly?

Perhaps your calling is to smile at that stranger in the checkout queue. He's been going through some hard times and is thinking about committing suicide, your smile is going to make the difference. And because your smile makes the difference, a difference is made to the people his Life has touched. They won't feel the sadness of his passing because you smiled at him. And because you smiled, three generations will come after and in the third generation one of them will come up with a cure for cancer.

Don't do yourself a disservice by thinking you're doing nothing. Drop the expectations and see what you are doing. Think about how the Lives of those around you would be different if you had never existed in the first place. Calling comes from within, not without. If you feel you are doing what you are supposed to be doing then you have your calling. Is it so mundane when you're one of the reasons someone who will cure cancer will be born? Is it so mundane when you look at the difference you have made to others? By smiling at that stranger you've stopped a lot of people being sad. Isn't that worth it?

So true. I have been getting some very serious lessons lately about seeing how my actions affect others down the line.

As for myself, my little heart guided me into the knowledge of the indigenous world, who showed me how our modern world is creating great imbalance on this sphere. So, I must help balance out the struggle before she goes pop:

"I picked up an orange and drew the continents on it. Here, I said,
is a globe: this is the world, here is America, here is the ocean, here is
my country England far in the north. Here in the centre, between
North and South America, between the two great oceans, is the
Sierra Nevada.
Ramón stared blankly at the orange. All this was obvious
nonsense. But plainly it meant something to me. And if I thought the
world was somehow like an orange, then perhaps I could be taught
something by using it. He bent his arm, pointed his elbow towards
me, and balanced the orange on it.
‘The world is balanced on an elbow. It is very delicately balanced.
It gets more delicate every day. You are shaking the world. And if
you shake it any more’ – he touched the orange lightly with a finger
tip – ‘it will fall.’ The orange fell, and Ramón stared at me, wondering
if I understood."

I have been taught by these people.

And we are digging our own graves.

Next I put myself into the potential future of environmental collapse. This is not a pretty place where people commit suicide to escape, like people jumping from the twin towers x 1,000,000.

Sorry if this upsets some of you, maybe try not judging what I said and take it for what it is.

Maybe it is the first time some of you have grasped this potential of great imbalance.

If you have reincarnated at this time and location, you are most likely here to do great spiritual work in balancing the energies of yourself, and thus the planet.

We do not have to go through this planetary karma. If enough if us create positively we can avert the consequences. The just will not have to suffer from the actions of the unjust.

I think some serious events are coming there are going to stir more spiritual people into action.

I love Greenslade's response which is about being local in your calling - local wild and random and simple acts which can make a difference and if we all embraced such things then it would make a huge difference globally.

That, however, is associated with a moral judgment that my code of right / wrong is the correct one.

So off topic.

What is my calling? My life purpose? An endless question which i suspect has no end.
