its more a pathway to surrender than to control. don't control breathing or stillness of mind. there is effort and resistance there.
sometimes using focus as a 'start to push' can help, but the idea is to not.
this is super hard. but also super easy and possible.
follow the breath, feel where it goes in your body. be mindful of it in that sense
let it be, while you listen to it without judgment or rule.
same with the mind. instead of stopping or 'bringing back' the chatter. be the listener to it instead. surrender relax smile, come into your body
whatever it is that you're doing, just come into your body and its sensations, inner and from out.

I've never had much of a problem with meditating in bed, except maybe 15% of the time I fell asleep...oops

haha same same. but I believe that part of the practice then continues in sleep.
deep healing meditation actually induces a form of sleep sometimes that is similar to taking anesthesia
this is because the 'healing' is kicking in, immunity system boosted,
and it will induce a sleep like state so that it can do its work best.
and then you just continue sleeping if you've passed out already.
no oops. its a good thing

This is a perfect description of mindfulness.
Many more people are interested in practicing this than ever before.
The motive may be simply reducing stress, or going deeper.
Either way, it makes me happy.
