Well here is to hoping the silence on this thread signifies that reflection is occurring surrounding the issues that 'at risk' children face, and the ways in which adults can help to make their world a safer place.
I attended the 4th Annual Child Protection Breakfast yesterday morning, and was fortunate enough to meet the guest speaker Marian Tankard Reist, who spoke about sexploitation ...

Here in the United States, about 15 years or so, maybe longer there was a public service announcement on tv with a woman talking into a mirror telling herself that it is not ok to hit. Afterwards a number popped up on the tv with a voice over telling viewers that if they needed help with their anger to call.
With all the budget cutbacks to social services, it's fallen by the wayside and it seems like every month or two some horrific abuse of children is made public. Just recently a military wife was arrested for the death of her toddler daughter. Initial medical examination said she died of dehydration and abuse.
I wish the saying "It takes a village to raise a child" were put in to action everywhere.
