do you see Christmas as spiritual?

Now that most of the Christmas festivities are over I would like to ask us a question. Is Christmas spiritual for you?

Do you see it as a spiritual time of year, or do you enjoy it as a spiritual occasion?

Many people are annoyed with Christmas because it has become a big excuse for commercial spending and over indulging.

So do you see the spiritual side of it?

Christmas shouldn't be any more or less spiritual than any other day of the year. There's nothing wrong with being moved by the occasion of Christ's birth (assuming that's why you celebrate Christmas) but spirituality is something that is best exercised every day not just once a year. I see it more as a day when we are encouraged to show our generosity to the people we love if for the rest of the year we have been silent.

I see everyday as spiritual as well and there's nothing on Christmas day that I don't try to exercise every other day of the year. However, Christians naturally see this day as significant.

On the same sbject, I don't do New Year's resolutions because I don't see the point - for me, every day is an opportunity for a new start. I don't need to wait for the big number change to make changes in my life.

I take Christmas as a time to acknowledge the birth of someone /something spiritual and a time of looking forward to life with great hope and joy. It seems like our lives are on a great invisible conveyor belt sometimes, and it's sort of like the path of planets. Our path sometimes comes near to these times and it may be of habit, yet I think we get thrills from knowing that at some point, someone really awesome and special came along and hey not that each of us isn't~This year I didn't do anything special or go anywhere special but just doing a tiny bit of shopping earlier this week or last and giving gifts for no apparent reason to my friends at work made me feel great, my heart felt full and I knew why I give gifts now. I remember a b/f years ago who used to give me flowers a lot of the time for no apparent reason and I remember the thrill of being thought special, so I think we should give gifts more often for no apparent reason to renew that innocent joy of giving and receiving.

For me it's spiritual. I have a spiritual affinity with Christ. I've been close to Christ since I was about 5. I used to talk to Jesus every night as a child and still do at times when I'm in bed ready to sleep I talk to jesus and tell him my troubles.
So for me this is the main celebration of his birth, however I've read in many places his b'day was actually in Jan sometime. However for me it's Spiritual I always think of Christ and feel his presence so much at this time of year.

Oh it's spiritual for me ~ when I was quite young, I remember the feeling of having jetted in from verrrry far away through space and time to find myself plopped down here in this body with this fam.

Honestly, the holiday season has felt mostly chaotic.
And since my view of Christianity has changed, how I relate to Christmas music & symbolism has also changed.
Earlier today, I thought, "What's the big deal about Christmas - it's just a day."
But it's the 1 day out of the year when things slow down. Most shops are closed & people seem to be a little more loving, more spiritual.
It's an excuse to get in touch with family & friends & even strangers.

It seems that there are different ways of interpretting spiritual...
different ways of resonating.

Today, when I went on a walk, 3 people said "Merry Christmas" to me - & they said hi first! I've walked many times & I've probably seen them before, & usually I say hi first.
But I think because it was Christmas today, they felt inspired to be friendly, which also warmed my heart.
