This is actually an ongoing debate… But most are convinced that they are non-living.
So… what in the world are they? What is this behind virii that programs them to attack only a specific type of species/order’s cell?
How about cities and towns? What if we are the “cells”? Once we stop moving, or leave, it becomes a “ghost town”…
And what about calamities, such as typhoons and tornadoes? They move about, hitting and missing things, perhaps by chance, perhaps by conscious choice…
And organisms that are too tiny for our eyes to see, that we don’t know we step on and maybe kill every step we take --- are we “calamities” to them, too? Maybe they don’t think we’re living beings?

I tried to do some research on these objecophiles - or as they prefer to be called OS (objectum sexuals) as I considered it to be a disorder too, but to my surprise I found doctors specialised in human sexuality who see it as normal as bi- or homosexuality. There was one in the Tyra Banks show, it's on youtube. Although, it needs to be added that their research on the subject is just taking baby-steps.
The Eiffel-lady (whose behaviour I must say I found quite disturbing) claimed that she fell in love with the tower because she "heard her cry". She said that the tower told her how incredibly lonely it/she is surrounded by loving couples in the romantic Paris.
I just couldn't help thinking all of that was pure projecting of her own feelings of loneliness.
About viruses, yes they are outside the normal classification of living entities but I'd say that they are living creatures, very primitive ones though. Why? They can be killed, they have a need to reproduce and they are notoriously good at adapting and transforming.
Of course the same building-blocks of life are all around us, but can you say a singular oxygen molecule is "alive"? If something is a living organism, it has specific characteristics such as abilities to grow, develop, die, procreate, and so on. A tower made of steel is just an object consisting of iron molecules despite the fact that you have the same molecules circling in your blood veins.
