Great comments Starman.
Most of the traumatic situations that have happened to me don’t really bother me anymore maybe cos I’ve had so much great stuff happen in my life ie lots of travel, adventures, experiences, achievements so I don’t tend to focus on the bad stuff. Obviously it sometimes comes up in my thoughts but it never stays there for long.
But I know it’s a whole different ball game when it comes to tragedy and loss. It must be heartbreaking.

I think some people are natural antidotes to emotional traumas,
my idea is that they carry an element, a figure that is complementary , with the good sense of the word to the trauma. This is just an idea though

im not a big fan of getting over things (well i wasn't allowed lol)
but anyway one thing that helped me was remembering how this place mirrors you, and how karma comes back at you... so at some point i was like, all this stuff that is happening to me, i actually did this to other people? I made them feel the way they are making me feel? So I learned some compassion, fast.

Trauma can indeed stay with you and you can carry it forward into other lifetimes.

Often the impact of a traumatic experience depends on how resilient a person is, and resiliency can come from having been exposed to trauma in the past. A person with a difficult childhood may be able to handle things as an adult which a person who had a very comfortable childhood may not handle well as an adult. It always amazed me when I went to a war zone how little children would play with each other shortly after witnessing death and war, maybe even after losing loved ones, parents, etc.
They had a resiliency, especially those who lived in a war zone for years. It was like war over time became their “norm” and they had some emotional skill in dealing with it. While on the other hand those people who have lived in comfort all of their life often handled the slightest mishap as though it was the end of the world. An example of this might be The Great Depression which took place in the U.S. around 1929, it was reported that some rich people killed themselves because they lost all their money in the stock market crash. There are people who take their life because they consider their situation to be entirely too traumatic, and it may be a situation which someone else may not consider traumatic at all.
I have had a lot of trauma in my life, especially when I was younger, but I have had a great deal more joy and peace in my life then sadness and trauma. I feel it was joy, peace, and the process of aging which has helped me effectively deal with past traumas. Am I emotionally damaged? I don’t think of myself in those terms. As the saying goes; “we all have our cross to bear,” or is it beer. I have found that a lot of spiritually oriented people, and those who have had spiritual experiences, had come out of a traumatic situation in the past. Its’ like the trauma pushed them to go below the surface.

A rather comprehensive spiritually oriented book on emotional healing is “Light Emerging,” by Barbara Ann Brennan. I came across this book back in the early 1990‘s and it is basically about doing energy work on your emotional issues. It has diagrams of the emotional body and how it gets entangled and strained. This book is for healers and patients alike, and some might fine it easier reading than others. You can download a free pdf copy of this book at the link below; do not click on the “Start Button,” just click the pdf symbol at the bottom of the web page.

Yes the mirror is all there to look into and I think other peoples trauma and suffering, are good tools of self reflection to look at how one feels, in the face of it.
Often when pain bodies meet, those reactions simply open you to notice more of yourself, as in your case, compassion for others, which in turn builds it as you.
Life tends to present so many opportunities, twists and turns into being present with what is. Hence building presence within, with awareness your more than just your trauma.

Hello,
In my experience, nature, colors, crystals etc. can help a lot heal the emotional damage.
We need to accept God's miracles (nature, etc.) do the healing work for us. I.e., an awakening is necessary to God's miracles. They exist and they are for everyone even for serial killers, fascist leaders, etc. who suffer from emotional damage. They show us that nothing can go wrong! Dogs also are great healers.
