Neil, I remember when you could get 2 sweets for a penny , or a halfpenny each .
I used to get a sixpence on a Saturday and for that I could buy 2oz of sherbet pips . I got those cos they were small and you seemed to get loads and they were served in a little white bag that was a triangle shape .
Only problem was the sweets used to end up sticking to the bag LOL...
The sugarlumps at school were what they used to put the vaccine on . Don't know what they did if any kids refused to eat because they didn't like sugar !!

And sometimes they didn’t even put the vaccine on the sugar lump, but used them as placebos. |

I think you're taking about the polio (don't know how to spell it) vaccine. A red liquid on a sugar cube. I got the vaccine in the mid 60s I guess it works as I never got polio virus.

Possibly they did Neil.... We'll never know. That was a heck of a lot of kids that had to have the vaccine and I'm going back to the 60's here in the UK .
All we knew was we had a sugar lump !!!
It was such a treat. |

Yes I believe it was the polio vaccine Desert .
Can't remember it being a red liquid , but maybe they just shoved it in your mouth very quickly !!!
All I could taste was the sugar. |
