View Full Version : spirit or fluke?

I had a funny (well, ish) experience earlier that might've been fluke but made me jump.

I was at my computer sorting through some photocopes of birth and death certificates of family ancestors that my dad has recently given me. I was putting the information from them onto a family tree on a website so I can trace back my family history. Anyway I was feeling a bit emotional about the fact I've never met these people and wondering what they were like etc. Then suddenly the light blub in my room did a big flicker! It made me jump even though I wasn't facing the light at the time. It did make me wonder, so much so that I turned around and said hello and asked them gently not to scare me but I didn't mind them being there.

Maybe it was just a flickering bulb but it was a nice thought under the circumstances.

there's no such thing as a fluke or a coincidence...i have had the same happen, a spirit communicating online thru a messenger and telling me to watch the lightbulb as it flickered, not once, but three separate times...it may sound crazy, but it isnt, not one little bit...think that over and reconsider it all...someone wants to talk to you...

Thanks so much for your reply Shabda  I really do hope its someone trying to communicate. I'm still at the slightly fearful stage so I'm okay as long as they don't jump out in front of me!

I saw a medium some time ago who named a few of my ancestors (this is what got me into family history research) and she told me that 'lily' was desperate to get through. I've since found out that Lily was my dad's maternal Grandmother but he doesn't know her maiden name as she died when my dad was young, as did my dad's mother. I wonder if it was her. I feel very sad that I can't find her as I don't know her maiden mame. I suppose I could look up marriage certificates but its unlikely my dad would be any the wiser and all other relatives are dead....oh blimey, rambling aimlessy now. Thanks for validating what happened, it's nice to think it could have been Lily or another family member.

Wouldn't Lily's name be on your grandmother's birth certificate?

No because my paternal Grandmother is my dad's mother (if you see what I mean!). She wasn't connected to my dad's fathers side. I'm trying to discover the maiden name of my dad's father's mother (gosh its confusing).

My other Grandmother is my mother's mum...

Do you know what town she lived in? Search old newspapers online for marriage announcements --- did they do that then? There are old newspapers online...I was helping my daughter work on a project a few years back and found newspapers from the late 1800's online.
