The word reincarnation mean to make new again. It is said to be when the Soul leaves the body and it is free to come back to a new body.

The afterlife can also refer to life after death. It is the belief that the essence of whom were in life survives the failing of the body, and enters a World on the other side.
When we die from the body, I feel that the Soul is what goes to the Light to be re born or to come to a new body for more in the body leanings. The Spirit ( the essence we were goes to an Afterlife.

Reincarnation is to make new again.

In that are we re born ?

Does a part of whom we were in the living body carry forward ?

How many people are you in one day? You get up in the morning and you're a mother/father at breakfast as you get the kids to school. You become a commuter as you travel to work, then when you get there you become a colleague. Still the same you, but variations on a theme. Same with reincarnation. The Soul is the 'you', and when you become incarnate you wear a certain hat depending on the Life you are in at that time. In the next incarnation, you're still the same basic 'you', only in different circumstances and wearing a different hat.
