Question about tension in head

I discovered today that I have a lot of tension in my head. When I relax that tension it quickly returns as soon as I stop focusing on it. If I concentrate on the tension and hold it at bay then I feel funny its nice. I've also noticed that negative emotions don't stick as much when I keep this up. I don't respond in anger to things that would normally make me very mad.
Is this a known issue or is this just weird? I'm going to try and keep the tension at bay as long as I can.
