Book1 Studying the Tarot Card by Card

This is how I set up my altar cloth for Tarot study. The chakra stones moving up from me to the card I'm studying. And for each card, I touch each chakra stone and say the coordinating phrases: "I am. I feel. I do. I love. I speak. I see. I understand." Then I place my hands over the card to absorb its energy as I speak the name of the card aloud as well. Following that, I write a full page explanation of the card, possible meanings and representations. (I use a separate notebook for this and not my Tarot Journal as I reserve that for spreads and readings.) I also refer to the book which accompanied my cards when I bought them- "Easy Tarot Handbook" by Josephine Ellershaw. It's a GREAT book for beginners. She takes you card by card in a way that's super simple. However, you DO need the dedication to follow through... it's quite time-consuming. I've been working on this deck over a month and I'm only now on the Major Arcana.
This process has helped me to learn my cards inside and out. I recommend it highly.
The deck I am using here is The Gilded Tarot. It's gorgeous. I definitely recommend it as well.

Show me YOUR tarot study setups! Or maybe just your favourite spread or... your crystal grid! SHARE SHARE!!!

I change my crystal altar with a new grid at least weekly so I don't really have any pictures of it... but right now I have one large piece and one small piece of tumbled lithium quartz surrounded by clear quartz piots as my current crystal set up. this weekend, I'm thinking about some carnelian.

but yours is so gorgeous! I love that you put down some chakra stones along the bottom of that crystal grid and that altar cloth is beautiful.

Thank you so much!
And I feel like the chakra stones help connect me to the cards and open up my chakras to receive what the cards have to tell me.
Post your grids sometime. I'd love to see.

Impressive to say the least. I am practicing the art of Tarot as well and my altar is my sanctuary. Practical yet inspirational. Being both Scorpios I am sure we can relate.

Yes. Truly relatable, fellow Scorpio. Thanks for the comment and compliment.

Oh my... what a beautiful layout you have there for your altar... the crystals are just wonderful to look at. and you could really feel it interact with one another even from the picture.

I have been reading the tarot since 2002. i never have studied tarot cards individually, rather as a group. I start by suits, then numbers. they each correspond best numerologically. Then when reading comes, i often have a book / guide i placed on my ipad /tablet and read from there. that way i don't get lost if ever it doesn't' ''FLOW'' . I used the CELTIC DRAGON Tarot by DJ conway, Lisa Hunt. and now I use the Classical Tarot by Barbara Moore. symbolisms are great! focus more on symbolisms and the pictures so you can easily make a story.
