Gorgeous butterflies .....do they have a special meaning for you?

Two of the fourth in the row, flew into my kitchen some days ago, and were reluctant to leave....for me it was the presence of a loved one.....

A special meaning? A symbol of beauty and wonder, and freedom of spirit...

A sign? Could well be... especially if butterflies held a specific meaning to you and your loved one.

This is a wonderful link, Knight! Thanks.
I have seen a lot of Common Blues about recently. They are incredibly beautiful, and seem much bluer than the pictures of them.

A few years ago an old man in the woods showed me a rare butterfly (or so he said it was) A Silver-Winged Fritillary. I have not seen it since

Is it true that butterflies fly thousands of miles in migration ? I'm not sure if it is the singular butterfly that does it but rather a process of journeying through ones offspring?

Here in the UK the Painted Lady migrates to and from North Africa. (The winter here is too cold for them)...Quite a journey.
The Red Admiral also migrates, though it can winter over in the far south of the UK.

In the US, the Monarch butterfly (and some other species) migrate. The Monarch's migration can be up to 3,000 miles.

Thanks knightofalbion.

To me, that shows you can't judge a book by their cover. Butterflies appear beautiful and fragile and - somewhat weak if I would dare use that word. But clearly a force to be reckoned with given the power in their fragile little bodies.
