Food and Drugs
Thought I’d share some of what I have learned about food and drugs. I previously worked in the mainstream medical field and then crossed over to alternative medicine. What I share here comes from my experiences but I do not say that what I share here is for everyone. Many who read this post may already know what I am sharing here and are already using much of it.
I have heard people talk about other people, particularly the elderly, who have to choose between food and medicine, they just do not have enough money for both. In my opinion the food which we eat should have medical properties and the medicine we take should have nutritional properties. I view food and drugs as one thing. People can become addicted to certain foods just as much as they can become addicted to certain drugs.
A person can become addicted to just about anything and most people in the U.S. are hooked on synthetic pharmaceutical drugs, many are addicted to prescription drugs. Now please do not stop taking your prescribed medications based on what I have said. All I have said is that the food we eat should have some healing aspects and the medicine we take should have some nutritional value.
In the U.S. we have a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which regulates food and drugs under the same department. As far as food is concerned, we should drink our solids and chew our liquids; which means we should chew our solids until they are somewhat liquefied. Most Americans take a bite of something, chew it two or three times and then swallow it. Chewing your food until it is almost liquefied helps your body digest that food.
When we bit off a big chuck of food, give it two or three chews and swallow it, it can get stuck in our throat, and most of the food is undigested waste that goes into the toilet. We should also chew our liquids which will mix what we drink with the saliva in our mouth, again making it better for digestion. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
We can not prevent every illness from happening, some people are born with a particular illness, like diabetes, and some have a predisposition towards a particular illness. But many, if not most, can keep their body and mind illness free well into their nineties, if they otherwise live that long. Hope I haven’t been too brow beating here. The bottom line is that we might all want to do what is healthy for our own body and mind.
