Organization of perception
Knowledge organizes perception into different and appropriate memory spaces. For example, when a man of God sees a dove, he may think "Ah, the dove of peace" but when a butcher sees the dove or the pigeon, he may think "Ah, I could have killed it and had it for dinner if I could". That is the knowledge each of them has wrested from life.
Knowledge may come through intelligence or not, but immediately becomes memory, which may either create a memory space if it is a new kind of memory, or may belong to one or more of the memory spaces that already exist in the mind.
Knowledge interferes with perception and organizes it. Knowledge (of anything not just higher knowledge) colors perception and makes it subjective. It is knowledge that translates the perception into categories, and when there is a new type of experience then it creates a new memory space for that experience.
What is a memory space ? A memory space has thoughts, ideas, concepts and images that have an affinity for each other. Where as two thoughts or ideas from different memory spaces do not have the same sort of affinity for each other. Also, remembering an idea or an image or a thought from a memory space triggers the remembrance of another idea or ideas from the same memory space.
Now let us link this to "seed thoughts" that encourages irresistibly to create many thoughts that are similar to it. Like attracts like. Every like is also a memory space and may be a sub-space of a greater and wider memory space.

In case of geniuses and mentally imbalanced persons, the memory spaces that should be cordoned off(or sealed) from each other, become open to interacting with other memory spaces. That is how some of the great inventions have taken place.
Mentally imbalanced people also have similar interactions with different memory spaces that for ordinary men have very little affinity.
We burn incense so as to create a holy atmosphere because in the mind that has been trained to link the smell of incense with meditation, yoga or the like it is easy to become absorbed in that activity because the smell of incense and meditation or prayer/worship are in the same memory space.
It is also possible to enrich one memory space by another memory space. For example, lovers share a nice, memorable memory space. When they go on honeymoon, the hills, mountains, trees, forests, flowers which belong to another pleasant memory space strengthens and enriches the love-memory-space that is shared by lovers. So honeymoons are effective devices to strengthen the love relationship by adding thoughts of mutually felt pleasure to the bonding or love between them. So when they think of their relationship, they visualize walking hand in hand in the beautiful forests amongst the hills and mountains (shared pleasure).
