Lavender essential oil won't calm my kids
I have tried to get my kids calmer and someone recommended using Lavender essential oil. I bought the oil and put couple drops of this oil on the soles of the kids feet but it has no effects, except that their feet smell good now :)
Any other remedies I could try.

I had to laugh when i read about the kids feet.. I cannot say I have tried Lavender oil on my 'Hyperactive son' in the past didn't help. But my efforts to calm him were diet centerted and I looked at Additives, preservative and food colourings in everyday foods.. This sorted his probelem out.. In his case it was the avoidance of Tartrazine and Sunset yellow that stopped it. But also a wide awake kid is often very intelligent and just bored at school waiting for the rest of his class to catch up. So do not dispair..

Thanks for your response. I will try to read labels and stay away from food additives. I have already eliminated sugar from their menu as much as possible.

Hi lavender oil can be very effective to calm hyperactive children. But the best way to apply it is in there bath or blended into some grape seed or almond oil. About four or five drops to ten mls of oil. If putting into the bath then put a few drops into the warm water.
You can also use roman chamomile oil too both in the bath or into oil. Mixed with lavender. This will create a synergistic blend that will work together and amplify the effects.
The blended oil should be massaged into your children's body. Perhaps over there back or there arms and legs. You could try both bath and massage .
My little boy is ADHD and autistic. Lavender alone in the bath calms him down beautifully.
Always make sure that the oil you use is pure essential oil and jot just a fragrance oil.
Whilst lavender is safe to use directly on the skin always make sure that chamomile oil is diluted. If for massage in oil. If in the bath then with half a cup of full fat milk. This will prevent the chamomile from irritating there skin.
I hope that helps. All four of my children have ADHD. It has worked for all of them.

I didn't find sugar to be too much of a problem. It's artificial sweeteners you have to be carefull of. Such as aspartame. Pure sugar without artificial sweeteners or preservatives is fine.
Try the tips I've given I've been a qualified aromatherapist for fifteen years and I am a mother of four ADHD children.

I have had success with a blend of rosalina, lavender and sandalwood, at a 3% blend in fractionated coconut oil, for a girl on the autism spectrum with difficulty settling to sleep (her mother loves it, too - I'll have to make more soon. heh)
